The blog is much more than a simple journal kept online. It can be used to engage readers or customers. It can extend the reach of your marketing efforts and create content with more staying power than a social media post. It can be long and in-depth or short and sweet, a full essay or a quick photo caption.

In this TIGER Workshop, accomplished blogger Nick Dekker will present strategies for creating and maintaining blogs, methods for sharing them through social media, different formats a blog can take, and finally how to create your own blog that will attract a large base of followers and advertising/sponsorship dollars.

Nicholas Dekker gets people to call him “Dr. Breakfast” because he really loves breakfast and has a Ph.D. Nick is a food/travel writer based in Columbus, writing his award-winning blog “Breakfast With Nick” since 2007, where he documents his journeys in exploring breakfast, coffee, donuts, beer, the arts, family travel, and much more.

Nick also writes for Columbus Alive, the Columbus Dispatch, Experience Columbus, TourismOhio, Columbus Monthly, and many other publications. He also leads culinary tours for Columbus Food Adventures. For his grown up job he works on the marketing team of the Greater Columbus Arts Council.
